Only archeologists can speculate how or why the Native people, that inhabited the canyons of Arizona and Utah, built their Pueblos in the side of high-up cliffs. This ruin is high above the river bottom, in Canyon Del Muerto, and is only accessed when accompanied with a guide. Navajo people inhabit the canyon, and farm along the banks of the river. DeSerio often wondered how they decided where to build, and how they got in and out of the area. Some say the inhabitants did not even know other dwellers just a few miles up or down the canyon. Why they left, is still a mystery to this day.
