During an excursion into Canyon Del Muerto, AZ with the company of Native American guide, Lou DeSerio came across a homestead where a young woman was weaving a rug in front of her Hogan. With the interpreter along, DeSerio was able to arrange for a session to take her portrait. During that time, her grandfather appeared in the doorway of his Hogan and DeSerio was struck by serenity and wisdom in this man’s features. The interpreter arranged for a portrait sitting and DeSerio fetched the shovel to portray the dedication and work this man must have done during his lifetime.
