La Vita Di Siena [Lah Vhe-tah Dee Siena] has a double meaning. It means “The Life of Siena” as well as “The Siena Life.” Adam chose this title because this image represents both the life of the city as well as the way of life and people that make this amazing city so alive.
During the first 6 months of 2014, Adam DeSerio studied abroad in Siena, Italy, an ancient and medieval city in the heart of Tuscany. During this particular day the weather alternated several times between storms and rain to beautiful sun. After the third time of the rain beginning, Adam decided to go to his favorite view in all of Siena, hoping that the rain would stop again and thinking that the sun might come out one last time around sunset time. It came as no surprise to Adam that no one was at the top of his favorite tower, due to the weather, and over the course of 2 hours Adam stood alone and watched the city come to life as the rain slowly stopped and the sun splintered from the clouds and horizon, lighting up each of the buildings as if with individual attention. The rainbow in the countryside, arching over the main tower truly completed this amazing experience that brought a tear to Adam’s eyes. It was this moment, after about one month into his study abroad experience in February, that Siena went from being just a city to being his home.
