Bell Rock is the farthest south the red rocks can be found, and is one of the first of many formations visitors see heading north to visit Sedona. A pathway was created so visitors can walk around, and even climb on, Bell Rock. With over 40 years of making photographs with film cameras, Lou DeSerio purchased his first digital camera in 2013; the Nikon D800. Anxious to take it out for a shoot, he packed his new camera and headed toward the first storm that came through the Bell Rock area. He was quite taken by the deep, dark sky behind the rock and the early morning sun breaking, emphasising this unique formation of rich Navajo Sandstone and native grasses. DeSerio stood on the pathway and captured this brief moment, excited to be able to see the results on the back of his camera instantly and print the same evening. Truly a first in his long journey through the evolution of photographic technology.
