This fascinating formation is found in the Lower Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona. The lone rock really exemplifies the feeling of the canyon, and it solitude. Antelope Canyon is known as a ‘slot’ canyon, in that it is extremely narrow. At times both of your shoulders can rub against the canyon walls. Since it is so narrow, there’s only a brief time each day when the sunlight makes it in the canyon, from top to bottom. For most of the day, sunlight is bouncing off the sides of the red canyon walls, which creates the most photographically interesting moments and it is brief each day to capture the light in this amazing area. Located near Page, Arizona, and run by local Native Americans, permits are issued daily to allow for hiking and photographing one of the most unique land formations in Arizona.
